Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: Fuuin Sareta Card - Anime Review

Cardcaptor Sakura Kinomoto is now in the sixth grade. She has already captured all the Clow cards and turned them into Sakura cards. To top it all off, Li Shaoran has finally confessed his love for her!

Things couldn't be better for our young heroine, and all that's left for her to do is to tell Li Shaoran that she loves him too. But Sakura's cards have been disappearing one by one, and nobody knows where they've gone!

It seems that there is one final card that Sakura has not been captured... and this card's power is equal to all the powers of the other cards combined.

If Sakura doesn't capture it in time, the whole world will cease to exist! But there is a price for success... and it involves a great sacrifice on Sakura's part...

Review: Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: Fuuin Sareta Card

Having been greatly disappointed (not to mention bored) with the first Cardcaptor Sakura movie, my expectations were not very high for this one.

I was, however, immediately struck by the exceptionally crisp and vibrant visuals. Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2 is even more of a feast for the eyes compared to the TV series and the first movie.

Since I'm something of a sucker for romance, the sweet love angle between Sakura and Li Shaoran piqued my interest and tickled my fancy to no end.

The plot is classic Cardcaptor Sakura anime fare. As it turns out, there is one last card left for Sakura to capture, but it can't be done through the usual method.

Sakura must sacrifice something very important in order to make things right, and this is the main dilemma of the movie.

The situation is unfair, and the desire to see how things will ultimately be resolved kept me glued to my seat.

As I've mentioned earlier, the art and animation are excellent. Sakura and Li Shaoran even get matching costumes courtesy of Tomoyo.

Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2 provides a very nice conclusion to the Cardcaptor Sakura TV series, so I don't advise watching it on its own.

I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and if I'm not mistaken this is Clamp's happiest ending yet.
