Mikage and Tomomi Matsunaga are identical twins with psychic powers. They can communicate with each other via mental telepathy, and they can
teleport to any destination by linking their pinky fingers. But that's where
their similarities end.
Mikage is the reserved type. She likes classical music and feminine dresses. Tomomi is more friendly and outgoing. She likes sports and her fashion style is more casual.
Due to their powers,
the twins get into all sorts of situations. But elsewhere there is another set
of twins who are somehow connected to the Matsunaga sisters. Soon, things get more complicated and an enigmatic man known only as Mr. X
appears.
Miracle Girls Anime Review
Things start off slowly for Miracle Girls. For the first half of the series,
it's mostly character intros and happenings in the twins' daily lives. It's
quite comparable to reading Archie comics -- they go to school, go out on
dates, get into mischief, etc.
In other words, it's mostly typical teen stuff with the exception of some
magical moments due to the twins' psychic powers. It won't really matter if
you miss an episode here and there because they aren't closely related at this
time.
However, in the later parts, Miracle Girls delves more into the main plot with
the introduction of another pair of twin sisters -- Emma and Marie.
There's also the mysterious Mr. X, who's ultimately the show's main
antagonist. Now this is where continuity counts.
Character-wise, Mikage can be an irritatingly stuck-up and immature little
b*tch (despite her seemingly more mature appearance).
Tomomi is the more versatile and likeable twin. How they transcend their
differences and remain the best of friends is the heart and soul of the show.
The art and animation are okay. Nothing to rave about, but nothing to cringe
at either. Another thing about Miracle Girls is there's nothing objectionable in it. This is a show you can leave on for children to watch even on their own.
I found it an average anime, but it may very well appeal more to younger
audiences.
