Please Save My Earth - Anime Review

Please Save My Earth

High school student Alice Sakaguchi once dreamt that she is another person living on the moon.

The dream is so strange and so real that Alice can't stop thinking about it. She finds out that some of her classmates are having the same kind of dream. They soon discover that they had been seeing flashes of their past lives as a team of scientists on the moon.

Alice and her friends then decide to find the other members and piece together what took place back then. Complications arise when they realize that everything that happened in their previous existence continues to haunt and affect their present lives...

Review: Please Save My Earth

Set somewhere amidst the past and the present, dreams and reality, Please Save My Earth 1996 has a very intricate and involving plot.

Alice and her friends are shocked when they find out they've all been having the same strange dreams about past lives on the moon. As they delve further into their past lives, all the conflicts that took place back then start to re-surface... threatening their peaceful present existence.

Please Save My Earth anime features a large cast of characters. The present (earth) and past (moon) version of each character have totally different names and faces.

I think one of them was even reborn with a different gender. I went as far as listing down the present day characters along with their past counterparts to help me sort out exactly who is who.

Please Save My Earth demands your full attention since a lot of substance lies in the dialogues. Missing certain lines would make it hard for to follow the plot and reconcile events.

I really liked the concept of being reincarnated with all the same memories and feelings in another time and place. It's very unique and it really makes you think.

The visuals aspect is just fantastic. The character designs are attractive and the animation is very smooth.

The English dubbing is very good too. I would have given Please Save My Earth a five-star rating had it not been for the abruptness of the OVA series.

The ending is unsatisfying, leaving too many questions unanswered and a lot of loose ends hanging. Obviously, there's a lot more to the story, but we definitely aren't going to get it from the anime version.
