Ranma is a regular guy with a not-so-regular problem. See, when he was
training in China, he accidentally fell in a cursed spring. As a result,
whenever he comes in contact with cold water, he turns into a she.
What starts as a leisurely cruise soon becomes something more when the gang
find themselves stranded on a strange island.
One by one, the girls start disappearing. Ranma and the guys must rescue the
damsels in distress from Toma, the bride-seeking prince... but there's more!
It is rumored that the solution to Ranma's gender problem lies somewhere in
the island...
Review: Ranma 1/2 Movie 2: Nihao my Concubine
Do you like looking at shapely anime girls in skimpy costumes? Lots of
bursting bustlines and long legs? In this Ranma movie 2, all the female
characters seem to have filled out a lot.
Of course, there's also the fact that they are stuck on an island
(in their skimpy swimsuits no less) with a prince who collects girls
for his harem. Even our hero(ine?) Ranma gets a chance to use feminine
wiles to save the day.
Nihao My Concubine's plot is basically okay. Of course, it would've surely
been better if Ranma 1/2 creator Ms. Rumiko Takahashi was the one who actually
wrote it (See also: "Ranma 1/2 (TV) Anime Review"). The "Anything Goes Martial Arts Bridal Competition" is
admittedly quite funny though.
Yet despite all the fun and frolicking, there is a major milestone here for
Ranma and Akane's relationship
(if you count it as an actual happening in the Ranma-verse, since it wasn't
penned by Ms. Takahashi).
I don't want to spoil it for you so let's just say that fans that are rooting
for Ranma and Akane would be thrilled.
The art and animation here have been pumped up in more ways than one,
especially where the girls are concerned. Everything is very colorful and
detailed. Overall, I still think the TV series and OVA are better, but this
movie isn't too bad (See also: "Ranma 1/2: Big Trouble in Nekonron, China Anime Review").

The Japanese title of this Ranma movie 2 is
"Ranma 1/2: Kessen Togenkyo! Hanayome o Torimodose!" Translated, that's
"Ranma 1/2: Decisive Battle at Togenkyo! Get Back the Brides!".
