Mihsoshi recounts one of her greatest detective cases in space, casting the
Tenchi Muyo gang into her story. The notorious space pirate Ryoko has been
intercepting shipments of the Ultra Energy Matter, abducting Galaxy Police
Investigator Tenchi in the process!
Aeka, Tenchi's self-declared and bereaved
fianceé, goes to Galaxy Police detectives Mihoshi and Kiyone for help... and
all hell breaks loose when Mihoshi, Kiyone, Aeka, and Sasami go off to rescue
Tenchi!
Review: Tenchi Muyou! Galaxy Police Mihoshi Space Adventure
If you've watched any of the Tenchi series, you'll find that Tenchi Muyo:
Galaxy Police Mihoshi Space Adventure is basically just more of the same thing. Mihoshi bungling an
assignment, Kiyone getting pissed off at Mihoshi, Ryoko and Aeka fighting over
Tenchi, etc. What probably distinguishes this from other Tenchi episodes is
the introduction of Sasami's magical girl alter-ego, Pretty Sammy.
I can't really describe the Galaxy Police Mihoshi Space Adventure any more without giving everything
away. Since Mihoshi narrates the whole scenario on her own terms, you can
actually watch this without any Tenchi background and fully understand what's
going on. It's short, straightforward, and actually entertaining enough...
albeit nothing really special.
In fact, I feel so lukewarm about it that writing this review feels like I'm
wringing my brain for something to say when there isn't any.
The art and animation are excellent, and are actually at par with the original
OVA series. As usual, the English dubbing is okay -- with the exception of
Ryoko's mannish portrayal and Aeka's raspy-old-hag voice.
If you generally enjoy the Tenchi characters' antics, then you'll probably
enjoy the Galaxy Police Mihoshi Space Adventure. But if you're looking for something different, this
isn't going to cut it.
As for me, the main reason I got it is because I already have all the Tenchi
OVAs and I really wanted to complete my OVA collection. Of course, this is not
to say that the Galaxy Police Mihoshi Space Adventure is bad. Like I said, it's entertaining
enough... just nothing special.

enjoyable than this.
