Blood: The Last Vampire takes place during the fall of the Yokota Air Force in
1966. Evil blood-sucking creatures called Chiropterans are concealing themselves
among humans.
Armed with a samurai sword, an enigmatic Japanese girl named Saya is sent by
the organization to infiltrate the American School in the Yokota Military
Compound.
Saya's mission is to eliminate the source of this pestilence. But who is Saya? And why is a young girl like her powerful enough to vanquish
these demons?
Review: The Last Vampire
From the makers of the much acclaimed anime "Ghost In The Shell" comes this
entertaining thriller loaded with gore galore!
Fast-paced and action-packed, Blood The Last Vampire 2000 is to say the least, a killing-fest like
the cult TV series "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer".
The art and animation are superb, and the creatures are so hideous that I was
on the verge of throwing up after the movie.
A whole lot of blood is spilled in this anime, and I think that's the main
reason why they called it Blood. Like "Ghost In The Shell", the character designs have a realistic feel.
Mysterious is an understatement when describing the main character Saya The Last Vampire.
Background information is severely lacking with regards to her real identity. The abrupt conclusion also leaves something to be desired.
Only an old picture with Saya is shown to pass off as an ending, leaving the
viewers to form their own conclusions.
Despite its flaws though, Blood The Last Vampire movie is enjoyable all the same.
The action and the visuals are spectacular, and I had goosebumps all
throughout the film.
Miscellanies: The Last Vampire
Blood The Last Vampire anime is a purely digital film which merges cel illustrations with
computer-rendered ones.
Saya is voiced by Youki Kodoh from "Snow Falling on Cedars".
