Tenshi Kinryouku (Angel Sanctuary) Anime Review
Okay, in the year 2000 pretend you're looking forward to the "Lord of the Rings" movie coming
out in theatres.
You're thinking... "This is going to absolutely great! Just like the book!". But what if all there was to the movie was an introduction to the characters?
Just getting to know the hobbits, Gandalf, Strider, and Arwen, and then the
end. No more. You'd be pretty pissed off, wouldn't you? That's basically Angel Sanctuary anime.
There's no middle or end to it, just the beginning -- and that's the entire
anime. Because of that, there's really not much plot either. Not much happens at all.
Now, for those of you who don't need a plot for to enjoy an anime, you'd still
don't want this.
A lot of important characters and scenes are left out from the manga version. It seems like no one looked at the original character (Kaori Yuki Angel Sanctuary) designs to boot,
especially for Roshiel.
In the manga, he wore beautiful lace and leather, and was very feminine and
elegant -- very pretty. Alos was a very important person in the story with a complex background and
personality.
In this anime adaptation however, he's nobody! Just some guy with magic in a green trench coat... and he wouldn't be caught
dead in a green trench coat!
Then there's the enigmatic, flirty, androgynous, and very sexy character (in
fact the sexiest of them all in my opinion), Belial the Mad Hatter.
Is he the devil or isn't he? That is the question. Or it would be if he were in the anime. But he's not.
Last but not least, the dubbing of Angel Sanctuary 2000. Both English and Japanese versions stink to high heaven!
Do yourself a favor and get Angel Sanctuary manga, even if you can't read Japanese. It's still better than the anime.
