As a result, a pretty goddess named Belldandy appears before him -- and she promises to grant Keiichi anything he desires.

Thinking everything is a joke by his peers, Keiichi tells Belldandy that he wants her to be his girlfriend forever!

To his surprise, she agrees and divine intervention fulfills his wish.

Keiichi then finds himself living alone with Belldandy in an old, abandoned temple as the story unfolds... but as fate would have it, not just one, but three goddesses soon end up living with Keiichi!

Review: Ah! My Goddess (OVA)

One of my all-time favorites, Ah! My Goddess 1993 is a romantic comedy with a cast of memorable characters.

Although some of the humor are on the sexy / erotic side, there aren't really any explicit scenes or language. Everything is done tastefully, and things stay pretty wholesome.

OMG also has its share of heart-wrenching moments that may either: a. bring a tear to your eye, or b. make you cringe at the level of weepy-ness this anime possesses.

The way the plot builds up to a climax is just perfect, as each episode leaves you desperately wanting more -- even after the conclusion!

Characterization is superb. Everyone is given sufficient development and depth.

The three goddesses -- Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld -- represent the present, past, and future respectively.

Belldandy is every guy's dream girl. She's gorgeous, thoughtful, good-natured, and she excels in everything she does -- especially cooking!

Bel's older sister Urd is a sultry and extremely naughty girl whose main goal seems to be to help Keiichi nail Belldandy.

The youngest of the goddesses, Skuld, is a computer whiz and an outstanding inventor. She comes up with all sorts of crazy gadgets that do all sorts of things.

Meanwhile, the hero Keiichi is the typical teenage guy -- and from what I gather a lot of male audiences can identify quite well with him.

He doesn't seem anything special but he's Mr. Nice Guy, which is the usual type romantic comedies have as the main character.

The art and animation are exquisite.

Everyone and everything are beautifully drawn, and this series contains some of the best visuals I've seen to date.

The music is cute and catchy, and succeeds in enhancing the mood of the series.

Although the subtitled version is worth the additional bucks, the English dub is exceptional. The English voices are remarkably well-cast, fitting each character perfectly.

This 5-volume OAV series is truly a must-see!
