Meet Lina Inverse -- the powerful, but petitely developed sorcery genius, and
Gourry Gabriev -- the brawny but brain-dead swordsman who's her partner. Join
this dynamic duo as they travel the land looking for fame and fortune... along
the way you'll also meet the mysterious Zelgadis and
"Miss Justice" herself, Princess Amelia.
Chased by bandits, bounty hunters, and insane priests, Lina and the gang are
worried about only one thing: where to get enough to eat!
Slayers Anime Review
See where it all began -- the first TV season of the Slayers! This series has
Lina and company crossing paths with a man named Rezo the Red Priest. You get
a healthy dose of action and adventure. While there are some small hints at
romance, they are barely enough to register on scale. The characters are
extremely well-developed and are just hysterical.
They are also voiced perfectly by well-known seiyuus like Megumi Hayashibara
(Faye Valentine in "Cowboy Bebop") and Hikaru Midorikawa (Heero Yuy in
"Gundam Wing"). I don't know much about the Slayers movies, but I didn't need to watch them
to follow what was happening.
The art and animation are admittedly a little inferior compared to what I've
seen of the other series. Still, I highly recommed Slayers -- especially if
you're looking for a good mix of fantasy, comedy, and lots of food! My best
friend really got me hooked on this and I'm looking forward to getting the
next two seasons.
Miscellanies: Slayers
I haven't seen the dubbed version, but from what I've heard, it's not bad. The
only thing that surprises me is the same guy who plays "Brock" on Pokemon
plays Gourry.
